Der Wettbewerb um Kapital nimmt zu. Ziel von Investor Relations ist es, neue Investoren für das Unternehmen zu gewinnen und die vorhandenen Anteilseigner zu halten. Nur mit erfolgreichen Investor Relations kann ein Unternehmen den Kapitalmarkt als langfristige Finanzierungsquelle nutzen und eine angemessene Bewertung des Unternehmens am Kapitalmarkt sicherstellen. Investor Relations Manager müssen daher die Trends und Anforderungen der Investoren aufnehmen und in ihren Aktivitäten berücksichtigen. Ein wesentlicher Trend ist die steigende Bedeutung von Corporate Citizenship im Rahmen der Anlagestrategien von privaten und institutionellen Investoren. Am Kapitalmarkt hat sich hierfür der Begriff „Socially Responsible Investment“ (SRI) durchgesetzt.
