Zusammenfassung
Die soziologische Innovationsforschung beschäftigt sich seit langem damit, wie es zur Entstehung und zur Verbreitung von technischen und sozialen Neuerungen kommt (Zapf 1989; Gillwald 2000; Rogers 2003; Fagerberg 2005). Bislang wurde häufig die Frage diskutiert, welche institutionellen Arrangements die Entstehung von neuem Wissen und neuer Artefakte befördern. Zahlreiche Beiträge haben den Einfluss organisationaler Variablen wie Alter, Größe, interne Differenzierung, Führung und gleichzeitig den Einfluss von Umweltvariablen wie Regulationsdichte oder Ressourcenkontext auf die Genese von technischen und sozialen Neuerungen untersucht. Die thematische Bandbreite solcher Studien ist beachtlich. Sie reicht von Theatern (DiMaggio/Stenberg 1985a, 1985b), Unternehmen (Tushman/Anderson 1986, Tushman/Rosenkopf 1992) über Modehäuser (Crane 1997), Sinfonieorchester (Dowd et al. 2002; Kremp 2010) und Forschungseinrichtungen (Hollingsworth 2004, 2006; Heinze et al. 2009) bis hin zu sozialen Netzwerken in der Biotechnologie (Powell et al. 1996; Liebeskind et al. 1996) und Musical-Produktionen am Broadway (Uzzi/Spiro 2005).
