Bessere Qualität der Schulbildung durch Privatschulen?

Zusammenfassung

In der Diskussion über Möglichkeiten einer nachhaltigen Qualitäts- und Effizienzsteigerung im Schulbereich wird immer wieder die Stärkung des Privatschulsektors als besonders aussichtsreiche Strategie propagiert (z. B. West/Wößmann 2010). Begründet wird dies mit zwei Effekten: der größeren Leistungswirksamkeit von Schulen in privater Trägerschaft sowie dem durch sie induzierten leistungsfördernden Wettbewerb. In dem vorliegenden Beitrag wird die dazu verfügbare empirische Evidenz resümiert; im Mittelpunkt stehen vergleichende Schulleistungsstudien in Deutschland.
