Zusammenfassung
Während sich etwa die Organisationssoziologie bereits seit längerem sehr intensiv mit Fragen der Diffusion und des Wandels von Institutionen, verstanden als handlungsleitendes normatives Regelsystem, auseinandersetzt, so hat sich die Erziehungswissenschaft und zumal die Weiterbildungsforschung eher zögerlich diesen Themen zugewandt. In den letzten Jahren sind insbesondere Arbeiten vorgelegt worden, die sich schwerpunktmäßig mit der Diffusion und Etablierung von Institutionen auf internationaler Ebene, d. h. also auf der Makroebene befasst haben. Beispielhaft ist hier etwa die Arbeit von Jakobi zum lebenslangen Lernen als Institution zu nennen (Jakobi 2009). Zudem ist auf die Arbeiten von Ioannidou (2010) und Schemmann (2007) zu verweisen. Den genannten Arbeiten ist gemein, dass sie zumeist auf der Makroebene verbleiben und mit Blick auf die Diffusion von Institutionen die Schnittstelle von inter- bzw. supranationaler Organisation und Nationalstaat untersuchen.
