So schrieb etwa 2002 der Psychologe Daniel Wegner: »Wir scheinen Akteure, scheinen zu handeln – wir scheinen das zu verursachen, was wir tun. Es ist ernüchternd, aber letztlich nur zutreffend, wenn wir das als Illusion bezeichnen.«
