Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung der Informationstechnologie hat mit der Kommerzialisierung des Internet einen Bruch erlebt, der in vielen Branchen zu Veränderungen führt. Es lohnt sich deshalb, die aktuellen Veränderungen in den Unternehmensstrukturen aufzugreifen. Der folgende Beitrag beschreibt das Virtuelle Unternehmen als eine durch Internet unterstützte neue Organisationsform. Dabei begegnet er dem Problem, daß weder über die kommerzielle Internet-Nutzung, noch über Virtuelle Unternehmen ausreichende Erkenntnisse vorliegen. Im ersten Teil werden deshalb die zur Zeit bekannten Definitionsmerkmale Virtueller Unternehmen aufgegriffen und durch Beschreibungsmodelle illustriert. Der zweite Teil beschreibt die Möglichkeiten der Technologie und geht auf die Erfüllung der Bedürfnisse Virtueller Unternehmen ein. Um einen Beitrag zur genaueren Definition von Anforderungen zu leisten, ist der Teil durch Beispiele angereichert, die spezifische Situationen aufzeigen. Den Abschluß bildet eine zusammenfassende Beschreibung der bisher erkannten Wettbewerbswirkungen der Internet-Nutzung.
