Zusammenfassung
Mit dem technologischen Fortschritt und der Globalisierung haben sich auch die Art der Straftaten und die Straftäter weiterentwickelt. Der jüngste Anstieg von internetbasierten Verbrechen wie Identitätsdiebstahl, Finanzbetrug, Geldwäsche und Piraterie ist das Werk einer anderen Art von Kriminellen – intelligenter, weniger aggressiv – als die bisher untersuchten. Diese globale Kriminalität existiert fast ausschließlich in der virtuellen Welt und kann sowohl Organisationen als auch Einzelpersonen enorme Verluste zufügen. Während wir uns bemühen, mit ihrer Vorgehensweise Schritt zu halten, ändern und entwickeln sich sowohl Verbrechen als auch Kriminelle weiter. In diesem Kapitel werden das internetbasierte kriminelle Profil und die soziopsychologischen Faktoren, die dazu beitragen, hervorgehoben. Darüber hinaus wurde festgestellt, dass Technologiegesetze Schwierigkeiten haben, den Anforderungen der fortschreitenden digitalen Welt gerecht zu werden. Im Kapitel wird festgestellt, dass es einen erheblichen Bedarf gibt, Aufklärungsprogramme und Richtlinien einzuführen, die als Abschreckung gegen solche kriminellen Tendenzen dienen. Obwohl zweifellos noch mehr geforscht werden muss, bevor wir in der Lage sind, ein kriminologisches Profil für diese Verbrechen zu konsolidieren, wird dieses Kapitel die grundlegenden Indikatoren für diesen neuen Typus an Kriminellen zusammenfassen.
