Identität, Ungerechtigkeit und strategische Handlungsorientierung2 sind drei entscheidende Konzepte einer Sozialpsychologie des Protestes. Tatsächlich zielt Gamsons Konzeptionalisierung kollektiver Handlungsrahmen (Gamson 1992, Gamson et. al. 1982) auf das Zusammenwirken dieser drei Faktoren ab.
