Zusammenfassung
Gelbgrüne bis gelbbraune, vielfach einzellige Algen des Planktons der Binnengewässer und der Meere. Terrestrische Arten kommen ebenfalls vor. Ernährung autotroph. Verbreitung kosmopolitisch.
