Abstract
A series of new polyesterimides has been obtained by condensing pyromellitic dianhydride with various aromatic diamines and by esterifying before the actual dehydration, a part of carboxylic groups of polyamic acid with 4,4′di/2-hydroxyethoxy/dinaphthyl 1,1′.
In this way some new polyesterimides containing polynaphthalene rings in the side chain were obtained.
Thermal properties of new polymers were studied by thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis.
Investigations were carried out by determining the decomppsition temperature and measuring the weight loss upon heating the polymer samples under atmospheric conditions in the presence of air or nitrogen, temperature increase rates being 10°C/min.
The influence of structure of the polymers on their thermal properties was investigated.
