Abstract

The article justifies the role of foreign direct investment in the development of CIS economies and deepening their economic cooperation. To assess the contemporary environment, econometric calculations are used, that identify the causal relationship between foreign direct investment, foreign trade and GDP of developing countries. The application of the Granger model shows that there is a long-run relationship between FDI variables and foreign trade for the CIS countries. The Vector Autoregression model indicates that there is a cause-and-effect relationship between the variables across the CIS partner countries: foreign direct investment flows from Russia to CIS countries contribute to the growth of foreign trade. The article proves the positive role of foreign direct investments in the development of CIS economies and deepening their economic relations. The results of the study justify the role of direct investments in the CIS countries economy. The proposals for creating a favorable investment climate in the CIS are presented and boost the practical value of the paper.
