Abstract
This chapter analyzes the development of public policies related to Open Access in Science in the case of Colombia. The method used was an exploratory and comparative analysis of the Open Access policies associated with science taking into account four cases, which illustrate national and transnational efforts. Moreover, a legal review of the Colombian Economical and Social Policy Documents was made to evaluate the public policies on science, technology and innovation, assessing the link between these policies and Open Access in Science in this country. According to the findings, a set of policy implications for the development of Open Science are presented. These implications are particularly relevant for emerging contexts such as Colombia, because they could address difficulties and obstacles identified by previous national and transnational experiences.
