Abstract
We begin with some general results on the spectrum of continuous operators (11.1–11.5), where we always assume that X is a Banach space over C (!), i.e. IK = C, and that T ε L(X) (for the real case see 11.14). The main topic of this chapter is the Riesz-Schauder theory on the spectrum of compact operators (theorem 11.9).
