Dr McDonagh originally trained in adult rheumatology in Newcastle and London and then moved into pediatric rheumatology (London, Birmingham, Manchester) where she has since developed her clinical and research interests in adolescent health and transitional care. She has a particular interest in models of care for young people with chronic health conditions that support young people’s emerging capacity for self-management, peer support and their vocational development. She has a particular interest in the long terms effects and treatment of childhood-onset arthritis in adults, empowering young people, families and professionals in healthcare services and the involvement of young people in rheumatology.
