Abstract
The formation of surface defects when annealed thin cold-rolled steel sheet is uncoiled for temper rolling is analyzed. The appearance of such defects is mainly due to adhesion and welding of the contacting surfaces of the turns in the coil. The influence of the strip thickness, surface roughness, temperature, properties of the metal, and other factors on the stress–state of the coil and the likelihood of surface defects is analyzed. Preventive measures are recommended.
