In the published original article entitled “A rare bifurcation of the external iliac artery into femoral and deep femoral arteries” by Natsis et al., in Surg Radiol Anat (2022), a modification was performed in the introduction section due to an inadvertently written point concerning the deep femoral artery (DFA) entrance the adductor canal. Instead of the DFA, the main femoral vessel entering the adductor canal is the femoral artery (FA). Thus, the paragraph of the published text “The FA after giving of the deep femoral artery (DFA), usually 3–4 cm distal to the IL, gives of the lateral and the medial circumflex FAs (LCFA and MCFA)” remains as it is, and the missing citation [4] was added.

The text “The DFA typically courses along the femur’s anteromedial side within the femoral triangle (FT) to enter the adductor canal, passes between thigh muscles, and penetrates the adductor hiatus, joining the popliteal artery’s branches [2, 4] is modified to.

“The FA typically courses along the femur’s anteromedial side within the femoral triangle (FT) to enter the adductor canal, and the DFA passes between thigh muscles, and penetrates the adductor hiatus, joining the popliteal artery’s branches [5]”. In the place of the citation [2] of Bergman et al. (2011), we better cite the citation [5] of “Drake RL, Vogl W, Mitchell AWM (2014) Chapter 6. Lower limb. In: Drake RL, Vogl W, Mitchell AWM, editors. Gray’s anatomy for students. 3rd ed. Amsterdam: Elsevier Health Science; p. 569–73.
