Results
Patient characteristics of the population
Sixteen percent of the patients using AEDs in epilepsy were in the age group 0–19 years and only 0.85 to 5.5% of the users of AEDs for non-epilepsy disorders were in this age group. 79 and 89%, respectively, of the patients using AEDs in psychiatry disorders and migraine were in the age group 20 to 60 years, while 44% of patients using AEDs in neuropathic pain were older than 60 years (Fig. 1).
