Abstract
This paper studies the correction to the Thomas—Fermi potential arising from the exichange inhomogeneity and correlation effects. Using theBaraff equation and the approximate solution of the Thomas—Fermi equation for free neutral atoms, given by one of the authors there has been considered the low and high density approximation. It is found that the main contribution to the solution of theBaraff equation arises from the inhomogeneity, screening and exchange terms.
