Abstract
The Indo Pacific region underlines a new fulcrum of major powers’ equations due to its economic and strategic significance. Again, this signifies a new arena of conflict and contestation due to the involvement of big powers like US and China, as also other middle level players like India and small stakeholders like Philippines, Cambodia etc. With the enhanced presence of the US in the region and China asserting its presence, the chapter attempts to decode the larger geopolitical entity of ‘Indo-Pacific’ and India’s place in that evolving formulation. It also examines the complex equations among US, China and the ASEAN states as the major stakeholders of the Indo-Pacific geopolitics and the possible ramifications of big-power rivalry on the ASEAN states with China re-positioning itself and India trying to accomplish her own aspirations.
