Abstract
Social media is an advanced form of new media based on interactive Web2.0 Internet-based applications that try to connect the entire world with its technological power. The prime objectives of social media are to develop social relationships and to promote social development. Social media is the latest form of new media but its acceptance is not lower. The communication system of social media is short and simple which easily penetrates deep into the mind and heart of the users. In our modern society almost everyone is now using social media for various purposes. The article entitled ‘An Analytical Study of the Roles of Social Media and the Social Development in India’ shows social media playing a significant role in speedy dissemination of news and information, development of social relationship, debate and discussion, community development, education propagation, health awareness, etc. and how it is supporting in the social development. Social media brings revolution into the world of media and benefits society from various dimensions.
