La schizofrenia rappresenta ancora oggi una delle principali cause di disabilità in tutto il mondo. Secondo le stime dell’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità, essa si colloca nella graduatoria delle malattie causa di disabilità, al quinto posto per i maschi e al sesto posto per le femmine (World Health Organization, 2008).
