Abstract
Ludwig Schlesinger nait en 1864 à Nagyszombat, alors en Hongrie ; après des études secondaires à la Realschule de Bratislava, il étudie les mathématiques et la physique à Heidelberg et à Berlin. Schlesinger soutient en 1887 à l’Université de Berlin une thèse, Über lineare homogene Differentialgleichungen vierter Ordnung, zwischen deren Integralen homogene Relationen höheren als ersten Grades bestehen1, qui s’inscrit dans le programme d’études des équations différentielles linéaires défini par Lazarus Fuchs. Il entreprend alors une carrière universitaire qui le mène de l’Université de Berlin (1889-1897), à celle de Cluj (Kolozsvár) (1897-1911) et enfin à Giessen (1911-1930). Il est obligé par les nazis de quitter sa chaire en 1930 et décède à Giessen en 1933.
