Zusammenfassung
Gewichtsbezogene Stigmatisierung bezeichnet die Zuschreibung negativer Eigenschaften auf Menschen mit Adipositas und umfasst negative gewichtsbezogene Stereotype, Vorurteile und Diskriminierung. Gewichtsbezogene Stigmatisierung erfolgt in vielen Lebensbereichen und geht, insbesondere wenn das Stigma von den Betroffenen internalisiert wird, mit psychologischen und medizinischen Beeinträchtigungen einher, was die Notwendigkeit von Interventionen zur Stigmareduktion begründet. Auch im Gesundheitswesen einschließlich der Adipositaschirurgie wurde gewichtsbezogene Stigmatisierung nachgewiesen. Prinzipien einer nichtstigmatisierenden Gesprächsführung in der Adipositaschirurgie werden vorgestellt.
