Zusammenfassung
Als Holz durch den Raubbau in den Wäldern nicht mehr im Überfluss verfügbar wurde, entstanden in der zweiten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts auch die ersten Forstschulen. Die ersten wissenschaftlichen Ansätze zu einer Forstwirtschaft gingen unter ökonomischen Gesichtspunkten jedoch von kameralistisch gebildeten Nichtforstleuten aus. Dazu zählte von der Kameral-Hohen-Schule zu Lautern (gegründet 1774 in Kaiserslautern), später als Staatswissenschaftliche Fakultät in der Universität Heidelberg, Georg Adolph SUCKOW (1751–1813) mit seinem Lehrbuch „Oekonomische Botanik“ (1777).
