Zusammenfassung
Mit den höheren visuellen Leistungen werden aus lokalen Merkmalen komplexe Eigenschaften ermittelt und zu Bildern zusammengesetzt. Im Verlauf der kortikalen Verarbeitung werden Objekte identifiziert und im Raum lokalisiert. Es resultieren die wahrgenommenen Bilder und visuell gesteuerte, motorische Aktionen. Die unterschiedlichen Aspekte der gesehenen Umwelt werden auf getrennten Wegen verarbeitet. Es geht um das „was?“ und „wo?“. Eine ventrale parvozelluläre Bahn analysiert Farben und Formen und führt schließlich zur spezifischen Wahrnehmung von Objekten und deren Speicherung im Gedächtnis. Eine parietale magnozelluläre Bahn analysiert Bewegung und Tiefe im Raum und mündet letztendlich in visuell gesteuerten Augenbewegungen und Handlungen.
