Zusammenfassung
Die maschinelle Beatmung beeinflusst nicht nur die Funktion zahlreicher Organsysteme, sondern kann auch verschiedene, teils bedrohliche Komplikationen hervorrufen, die das eigentliche Zielorgan der Beatmungstherapie, nämlich die Lunge selbst, betreffen. Einflüsse der maschinellen Beatmung auf die Funktion verschiedener Organe, v. a. das Herz-Kreislauf-System, entstehen in erster Linie durch die unphysiologischen intrathorakalen Druckschwankungen und Schädigungen der Lunge durch den Beatmungsdruck und das angewandte Atemhubvolumen. Daneben führen die künstlichen Atemwege – Endotrachealtubus und Trachealkanüle – zu spezifischen Komplikationen, die in den entsprechenden Kapiteln dargestellt sind.
