Zusammenfassung
Moderne neurowissenschaftliche Methoden wie die funktionelle Kernspintomografie erlauben es heute, die Hirnprozesse zu studieren, die ablaufen, wenn Menschen positive Emotionen erleben. Zum Verständnis, wie positive Emotionen definiert werden können, werden die wichtigsten neurobiologischen Emotionsmodelle vorgestellt und Forschungsparadigmen erläutert, wie positive Emotionen experimentell untersucht werden können. Nach einer Beschreibung der Strukturen und Netzwerke, die beim Erleben von positiven Emotionen eine Rolle spielen, werden empirische Ergebnisse der modernen Hirnforschung vorgestellt. Dabei wird besonders auf Studien eingegangen, die mit erotischem Bildmaterial gearbeitet haben, um positive Emotionen zu erzeugen. Biologisch bedingt, scheint dieses Material bei vielen Menschen geeignet positive Emotionen hervorzurufen („sex sells“).
