Zusammenfassung
Das Wissen um sowie die Bewertung der eigenen Person als eines der faszinierendsten Themen psychologischer Forschung wird entlang zweier zentraler Fragestellungen behandelt: Welche Effekte hat sportliche Aktivität auf das Selbst bzw. die Identität? Und wie wirkt umgekehrt das Selbst bzw. die Identität auf die sportliche Aktivität? Es werden globales und physisches Selbst, sportbezogene Identität und sportbezogenes Selbstschema sowie die Selbstwirksamkeit vorgestellt. Ein Desiderat der Forschung ist die stärkere Berücksichtigung der Dynamik des Selbst bzw. der Identität.
