Zusammenfassung
Heiner Ganßmann geht in Geld und Arbeit der Frage nach, welche Bedeutung die Kategorien „Geld“ und „Arbeit“ für die Analyse des modernen Wirtschaftssystems haben und wie diejenigen sozialen Prozesse beschrieben werden können, die das Zusammenspiel von Geld und Arbeit stimulieren, steuern, aber auch lähmen. Ausgangspunkt ist hierbei die Überlegung, dass man die moderne Gesellschaft auch weiterhin nur dann angemessen beschreiben könne, wenn man dieselbe zuallererst als kapitalistisch verfasst begreife. Diese in der Soziologie seit den 1970er Jahren keineswegs mehr selbstverständliche Annahme (vgl. Touraine 1972 [1969]; Bell 1973; Beck 1986) ist für Ganßmann grundlegend.
