Zusammenfassung
Vertrauen und Glaubwürdigkeit sind essenzielle Mechanismen für das Zustandekommen von Kooperation. Folglich haben die positive Beeinflussung von Vertrauenszuschreibungen und die Herstellung von Glaubwürdigkeit einen hohen Stellenwert für Public Relations im Rahmen organisationaler Kommunikation. Dies erscheint, vor allem vor dem Hintergrund der Entwicklung des Internets und sozialer Medien, leichter und zugleich schwieriger denn je. Einerseits stehen Organisationen nahezu unbegrenzte Möglichkeiten der Kommunikation zur Verfügung, mit denen eine direkte Kommunikation mit relevanten Stakeholdergruppen realisiert werden kann. Andererseits sind die zunehmende Polarisierung der Gesellschaft und ihr Zerfall in Gruppen, die kommunikativ auf sich selbst bezogen sind, verschwimmende Grenzen in der öffentlichen Kommunikation und die Schwierigkeit, konsistent zu kommunizieren, Faktoren, die eine glaubwürdige Vermittlung von Vertrauen erschweren.
