Zusammenfassung
Der Beitrag befasst sich mit dem Prozess der Europäisierung Georgiens vom ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert bis heute, nimmt dann aber vor allem die Entwicklung seit 1991 in den Blick. Dabei werden die Beziehungen der EU mit Georgien dargestellt und die Spezifik der Zusammenarbeit in verschiedenen Politikfeldern herausgearbeitet. Als ein Beispiel für die besondere Frage der Kooperation wird die Unterstützung der EU im Bereich der Integration der Minderheiten kurz vorgestellt. Abschließend werden einige methodische Fragen zum Verhältnis der Europastudien zu den Kaukasienstudien diskutiert.

Andererseits haben sich verschiedene Formen des Nationalismus (ethno-religiös, populistisch und gemäßigt-liberal) ausgebildet, deren mit der Globalisierung fortschreitende Transformation und dem „Westen“ verbundenen und auf einem seit dem 19.
