Zusammenfassung
Der Aufsatz widmet sich der Frage, inwiefern Privatheit als ambivalentes Phänomen betrachtet werden kann. Privatheit wird dabei untergliedert in räumliche, dezisionale und informationelle Privatheit. Die Ambivalenz dieser drei Privatheitstypen ergibt sich aus folgendem Spannungsfeld: Auf der einen Seite bildet Privatheit ein wichtiges gesellschaftliches Gut und übernimmt wichtige Funktionen, welche essentiell sind beispielsweise für die individuelle Persönlichkeitsentwicklung, für ein friedliches Gemeinwesen sowie für eine demokratische Gesellschaftsverfassung. Auf der anderen Seite kann Privatheit mit Unterdrückung, Entpolitisierung oder moralisch relevanten Normverletzungen verbunden sein. Der folgende Aufsatz widmet sich der Aufgabe, die Ambivalenz des Privaten detailliert herauszuarbeiten und Reflexionsdefizite in bestehenden Privatheitsdiskursen aufzudecken, ohne dabei den gesellschaftlichen Wert der Privatheit verleugnen zu wollen.
