Zusammenfassung
Oft sind im Rahmen der quantitativen empirischen Forschung Sachverhalte aus Forschungsfragen und Hypothesen so allgemein bzw. mehrdeutig, dass sie nicht direkt messbar sind (z.B. Sachverhalte wie „gesellschaftliche Teilhabe“ oder „Mobbing“). Sie müssen erst operationalisiert werden, das heißt, es sind genaue Angaben dazu erforderlich, wie ein Sachverhalt gemessen werden soll. Indikatoren, kurz gesagt sind dies Anzeiger für Sachverhalte, spielen hierbei eine zentrale Rolle. Dies soll zunächst an einem Beispiel gezeigt werden, bevor zentrale Begriffe erläutert und die Einordnung in den Forschungsprozess sowie methodische Herausforderungen systematisiert werden.
