Einen guten allgemeinen Überblick auch über Teilgebiete der „race and ethnic relations“-Forschung bilden Nachschlagewerke wie The SAGE handbook of race and ethnic studies (Solomos and Hill Collins 2010) oder The Wiley Blackwell encyclopedia of race, ethnicity, and nationalism (Stone 2016). Einen Überblick über aktuelle Diskussionen bieten Murji und Solomos in Theories of race and ethnicity: contemporary debates and perspectives (2015). Bekannte Sammlungen von Originaltexten sind Sollors’ Theories of ethnicity: a classical reader (1996) bzw. Hutchinson und Smith Ethnicity – Oxford Readers (1996). Einschlägige deutschsprachige Überblickswerke sind deutlich seltener, beispielhaft seien genannt Müller und Zifonun Ethnowissen (2010) bzw. Reuter und Mecheril Schlüsselwerke der Migrationsforschung (2015). Es lohnt sich auch ein Blick in einschlägige Zeitschriften, beispielhaft seien genannt: Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Ethnicities oder Sociology of Race and Ethnicity.
