Zusammenfassung

Seit Beginn der Transformation in Osteuropa hat das Thema der Parteienentwicklung in der Region einen relevanten Stellenwert in Forschung und Praxis. Häufig wird dabei angeführt, dass es letztendlich keine demokratischen Regime ohne Parteien gebe, oder wie Epstein schon in den späten 1960ern formulierte, Parteien seien keine hinreichende aber notwendige Bedingung von Demokratien (1967: 8). Und ein kurzer Blick auf die aktuelle Situation zeigt uns, dass dieses Thema wohl noch länger auf der Agenda bleibt, trotz 27 Jahre Transformation.
