Zusammenfassung
Die verhaltenswissenschaftliche Entscheidungstheorie rückt die Beobachtung von konkret stattfindenden Entscheidungsprozessen ins Zentrum der Organisationsforschung und entfernt sich damit vom aprioristischen Modell der Entscheidung als vollkommen rational. Von der sozialpsychologischen Annahme startend, dass Menschen begrenzt rational sind, untersucht dieser Ansatz empirisch, wie sich Organisationen trotzdem mit komplexen Aufgaben befassen können. Er zeigt, wie routiniertes Verhalten entsteht, wie Unsicherheit eingedämmt wird, wie Ziele ausgehandelt werden und wie Organisationen lernen. Weitere Entwicklungen der Entscheidungstheorie ermöglichen es, zwei zentralen Problemen der frühen Werke zu begegnen – und zwar die Vernachlässigung von organisationalen Phänomenen, die nicht auf Entscheidungen reduzierbar sind, und die mangelnde Analyse des Verhältnisses zwischen Organisation und Gesellschaft. Heute könnte eine Rückbesinnung auf die Zentralität von Entscheidungsprozessen die Sensibilität für eine spezifisch organisationale Praxis steigern.
