Individualismus-Kollektivismus – eine Kulturdimension unter der Lupe

Zusammenfassung

Individualismus-Kollektivismus - konzipiert als handlungsleitende kulturell verankerte Wertorientierung von Individuen - und ihre implizierten Modelle von Familie und Selbst finden sich immer häufiger in pädagogischen und psychologischen Diskursen in Deutschland, um verschiedene Phänomene und Prozesse in Migrationsfamilien zu erklären. Das Konzept von Individualismus impliziert die Kombination von Separiertheit und Autonomie während Kollektivismus mit Verbundenheit und dem Fehlen von Autonomie assoziiert wird. Aus theoretischer Perspektive zeigt es sich als problematisch, dass die diesen Konstrukten zugrundeliegenden Dimensionen „interpersonale Distanz“ und „Handlungsmacht“ konfundiert sind. Ebenso besteht empirische Evidenz für die Unterscheidung dieser Dimensionen und der Koexistenz von Verbundenheit und Autonomie sowie für die Multidimensionalität von Individualismus-Kollektivismus auf der Ebende von Kultur und Individuum.
