Abstract
European cultural output of the late 20th and early 21st centuries has struggled – drowned out by prolific production and the huge success of America’s cultural offerings. Whilst writing this chapter, planned trade talks between the US and the EU are in jeopardy as some European nation states seek a ‘cultural exception’ to bilateral trade talks in a bid to ‘protect cultural diversity’ from the American cultural ‘juggernaut’.
