Zusammenfassung
Bei der Suche nach Ursachen der steigenden Adipositas-Prävalenzraten wird das Konzept verfolgt, dass pathophysiologische Mechanismen, wie sie den Suchtstörungen zu eigen sind, der Entstehung von Adipositas zu Grunde liegen könnten. Der Begriff „Food Addiction“ wurde geprägt. Dabei geht es um die Frage, ob einzelne Nahrungsmittelbestandteile ein körperliches Abhängigkeitssyndrom erzeugen können oder ob es sich um eine nicht stoffgebundene Verhaltenssucht handelt oder ob beides der Fall ist. In diesem Beitrag wird der gegenwärtige Kenntnisstand hinsichtlich der Übertragbarkeit des Suchtkonzeptes auf Adipositas veranschaulicht. Einleitend wird die Entwicklung des heutigen Verständnisses von Suchtstörungen skizziert. Neurobiologische Erklärungsansätze werden veranschaulicht. Es folgt eine Diskussion, ob und wie sich die klinisch-diagnostischen Kriterien für stoffgebundene Substanzgebrauchsstörungen und nicht stoffgebundene Verhaltenssüchte auf „Food Addiction“ übertragen lassen. Schließlich werden im letzten Kapitel neueste psychopharmakologische Ansätze dargestellt.
