Abstract
A patient with cleft lip and palate usually has a residual alveolar cleft after primary lip and palate repair. The alveolar cleft, together with the adjacent buccal and palatal oronasal fistulae, will cause food particle retention or fluid regurgitation into the nasal cavity during eating.
