Der überproportionale „Verlust“ von Frauen auf den höheren Qualifikationsstufen des Wissenschaftssystems im Vergleich zu ihren Einstiegsquoten führt zu der Frage, ob möglicherweise Wissenschaftlerinnen nicht motiviert genug sind, eine beschwerliche, über einen langen Zeitraum hinweg unsichere Forschungslaufbahn einzuschlagen und bis zum Erreichen der Professur durchzuhalten.
