Klassenmanagement ist neben kognitiver Aktivierung und Motivierung eine zentrale Basisdimension der Unterrichtsqualität (Brophy und Good 1986; Wang et al. 1993; Marzano 2000; Marzano und Marzano 2003; Klieme und Rakoczy 2008; Hattie 2009; Kunter et al. 2011; Oliver et al. 2011). Unterrichtsqualität wiederum wird als „stabile[s] Muster von Instruktionsverhalten“ definiert, „das als Ganzes oder durch einzelne Komponenten die substantielle Vorhersage und/oder Erklärung von Schulleistung erlaubt“ (Weinert et al. 1989, S. 899).
