Abstract
This paper investigates the use of a new metaheuristic search algorithm, called Cuckoo Search (CS), in the optimization of control systems with a generalized PID controller. The CS algorithm is based on cuckoo bird’s behavior in combination with the Lévy flight behavior of some birds and fruit flies. Recent studies show that it is very promising and could outperform existing algorithms such as genetic algorithms (GA). Comparative results with GA prove the effectiveness of CS in the optimization of feedback control systems.
