Abstract
In this chapter, the design of the rebuilt Shaan 224 gas storage reservoir after depletion and its operation are introduced. The maximum pressure was designed as the original gas reservoir pressure, and the storage capacity was the original gas capacity. The minimum pressure was optimized and compared by finding a turning point in the correlation between the number of wells and the volume of the working gas. A heavy-duty organic DPC coating, with outstanding performances against erosion, H2S, and CO2 corrosion, was used. The technology of coiled tubing to drive acidification was adopted to achieve the reservoir reconstruction of the whole well section. Operations of the Shaan 224 gas storage reservoir started in November 2014, which has played an important role in peak-shaving for Shaan-jing pipelines.
