Shuang 6 Reservoir Development and Storage Design

Abstract

This chapter introduces the exploration and development of the Shuang 6 reservoir, the design of the rebuilding of the gas storage facility after the depletion, and the operation of the gas storage facility. The Shuang 6 gas reservoir was put into development in 1980 and was nearly exhausted in 2008, with a total gas production of 51.63 × 10⁸ m³ and a cumulative oil production of 171.25 × 10⁴ t. The natural gas recovery degree was 70%, and the crude oil recovery degree was 24%. The total water invasion volume was 836 × 10⁴ m³, and the water invasion volume accounted for 24% of the hydrocarbon volume. The material balance method was used to deduct the damage caused by the water invasion from the storage capacity. The designed storage capacity was 36 × 10⁸ m³, and the working gas volume was 16 × 10⁸ m³. Since gas injection began in April 2014, the Shuang 6 gas storage facility has injected a cumulative total of 67.2 × 10⁸ m³ and has produced a cumulative total of 25.2 × 10⁸ m³, playing an important role in regional natural gas peak regulation and supply protection.
