Abstract
The logically oriented structure of the sequence of diagnostic techniques can easily be introduced into daily practice. The screening suggested creates diagnostic security. The amount of security is directly dependent on the number and quality of all functionally oriented examinations and treatment procedures the doctors have done by themselves. Clinical experience is very valuable.
The differentiation of functional disorders of the craniomandibular system in dento-/occlusal, myogen and arthrogen components is really important, because every single disturbance needs a specific therapy to obtain good and stable treatment results. There is no occlusal splint or physiotherapeutic technique that can be used for all of these disorders.
