Abstract
Five Ss were conditioned to give sexual response to a photograph of a pair of knee-length boots (CS) and then the response was extinguished by repeated presentation of the CS alone. Another condition (backward conditioning) was included to control for the possibility of pseudo-conditioning. None of the Ss reached the criterion in this control condition.
