Abstract
Rate of the synthesis of oxalomalate and hydroxy- oxoglutarate The rate of the synthesis of the acids 4-hydroxy-2-ketoglutaric and 2-hydroxy-3-oxalosuccinic (oxalomalic), known to be involved in the regulation of the citric acid cycle, was investigated by analyzing at HPLC the equimolar solutions of their precursors glyoxylate plus pyruvate(A) and glyoxylate plus oxaloacetate(B) incubated under physiological conditions of temperature and pH. The main results confirmed both the reactions and showed that the rate of the synthesis of oxalomalate was 4 fold higher than that of hydroxy-ketoglutarate.
