Abstract
Under certain assumptions concerning the probabilities of “mutations,” i.e. changes of structure of bird societies, it is shown that the probability distribution for all possible structures of a society ofN individuals approaches a limit independent of the initial probability distribution. A formula for the limiting distribution is derived.
