Abstract
The attributes of both natural enemies and pest species in temporary agroecosystems are discussed. Analysis of natural biological control of noctuid pests in California cotton provides empirical support for the view that certain natural enemies are well adapted to habitats of low durational stability and that such enemies are fully capable of effecting pest suppression in these habitats.
